St. Veronica Remembers Barbara Latyszewski
Barbara Ann Latyszewski, age 75, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024. She was born on October 9, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Mildred (Kopitzki) Latyszewski.
Barbara was a beacon of kindness and generosity, known for her beautiful spirit and wonderful soul. She dedicated many years to serving the Center Line Community Schools in various capacities, ultimately retiring as the Latchkey Director. Her impact on the lives of countless children and families in the community was profound and enduring.
A lifelong member of St. Veronica Catholic Church, Barbara devoted her time and talents to her faith community. Over the years, Barbara served as the Chairperson of the Pastoral Council and held the roles of Sacrosanct and Vicariate Representative. For 20 years, she organized the church's annual book sale, all while embodying the love of God in every endeavor. Barbara was a true woman of God whose giving heart touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Barbara's compassion extended beyond her church; she was a devoted volunteer at the Michigan Humane Society, where her love for animals shone brightly. She rescued her beloved companion, BJ, from the shelter.
Barbara is survived by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she enriched.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Veronica Catholic Church, where she devoted so much of her love and service. Barbara will lie In State on Monday, September 23, 2024, beginning at 9:30am. Funeral Mass in honor of Barb's life will commence at 10:00am at St. Veronica Catholic Church, located at 21440 Universal Avenue, Eastpointe, MI 48021.
Barbara will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
