‘Heat the House’ Fundraiser for Gianna House
Winter brings joyful holidays and cold weather. Good and bad. In December 2022, just over a year ago, a devastating flood wiped out all four floors of our beloved Gianna House, Pregnancy & Parenting Residence. Four young mothers and their babies were shuttled into our van, as the Eastpointe Fire Department expertly remediated thousands of gallons of flood water from completely demolishing Gianna House (GH). Burst fire suppression pipes ruined facility, furniture, belongings and supplies.
Through the benevolence of several benefactors, Gianna House is moving forward with its initiative to “Heat the House”. The Pulte Foundation and Nancy Pulte Rickard’s grace gifted GH to help with the project of rebuilding and renovating our HVAC system. Additionally, the Michigan Council of the Knights of Columbus and St. Veronica’s parish have also generously donated monies to “heat (and cool) the house”. The ReSendes Consulting Group and RHAC Heating & Cooling are leading this HVAC effort with others through their donated time and expertise. This project will almost double our capacity to care for young, underserved, homeless young women.
To date, these benefactors have donated a combined total of $160,000 to the project. We are now challenged to find support for the remaining $100,000 needed to complete the entire project for the 10,000+ square feet of Gianna House. All of the air conditioning/heating equipment, duct work, electrical remediation and other necessities will replace the almost 100-year-old heating system. This project ensures our young, at-risk residents (moms and babies) as well as our low-income community mothers and their families we serve have a safe and comfortable haven. They all seek shelter, food, access to medical and social services as well as education and online learning.
Our vision is to lead in improving the lives of at-risk pregnant women, mothers and their babies by providing them with the opportunity of a community-based environment that offers education, life skills training and career planning that positively impact them, their children and their families.
Won’t you help Heat the House they all depend on? Your support is needed now more than ever. With your support, we will be able to almost double our capacity and offer residential housing and services to those of us who have the least.
